Anchorman 2 has premiered its first teaser trailer online.

The sequel to 2004's hit comedy was given the go-ahead by Paramount in March, with Will Ferrell appearing in-character as Ron Burgundy on Conan to make the announcement.

The Anchorman 2 trailer is currently screening ahead of showings of Sacha Baron Cohen's The Dictator in the US.

Director Adam McKay previously revealed that the movie will take place in the late '70s and involve a custody battle.

Original cast members Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and David Koechner will reprise their roles, while the filmmakers are hoping to convince Christina Applegate - who is absent from the teaser - to come back to play Ron's co-anchor Veronica Corningstone.

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues is due to arrive in cinemas in 2013.

Oh, Carell...you never fail to make me laugh.

I'm looking forward to this. Anchorman was one of the greatest comedy movies out there, and hopefully the sequel will live up to those high standards.

Anchorman 2?

You know, as well as the first movie did, it makes me wonder. Why did it take them so long to do a sequel?

Have the producers never heard the phrase "strike while the iron is hot"?

I'm not a fan of acronyms but I'll make an exception this time. OMFG! :P

Ron Burgundy: Anchorman is one of my favorite movies of all times. It's probably one of Will's best movies and it also stars Paul Rudd (true genius), Steve Carell and David Koechner... so you got the whole package right there.

I won't watch the trailer, though, as I rather keeps things a surprise :P Can't wait for 2013!

I'm glad to see them finally make a sequel for Anchorman. I loved that movie. It was a source of many quotes for me and my friends.
