I am a big fan of animated movies.

Kung Fu Panda, Ice Age, Madagascar are just to name a few!

I think, those movies are not just for kids, they are for adults too!
It is not just a movie, it is a result of teamwork and sheer talent I think!

How many of you watch these movies?

Yup, I love them! Even though they're "made for kids", teens and adults can really enjoy them too because of all the hidden puns. I recently watched "Up" and loved it. "Despicable Me" was nice but not the best. Toy Story, Ice Age and Kung Fu Panda are my favs.

Up and Lion king will always be in my favorite list as emotional animated movies!

I can't say I would generally go to a theater to watch a cartoon movie by myself or with other adult friends. I do thoroughly enjoy them, though, so watching as a family or when I'm babysitting is a great way to see a film without it taking up adult time otherwise.

I love animated movies, especially anything from Pixar or Disney.

I think some of the animated movies are meant to appeal to adults as well as kids.

There are 80's references in the Shrek movies that only adults would know about, like the Bonnie Tyler song Holding Out For A Hero being used, and the Safety Dance, and Barracuda by Heart.

A 6 year old doesn't know about the Safety Dance, so I think they threw that in there for the parents and other adults watching the movie.

I'm more into anime movies than anything else. I love just about anything from Studio Ghibli (creators of totoro and princess mononoke) but as far as american movies go I only like the occasional pixar film like Finding Nemo.

Me too. I'm primarily an anime fan but I can appreciate some of the American animation.

Absolutely! That's why I love some of them so much. Instead of feeling strictly like kids' movies, they have all these inside jokes and references that are obviously for the adults. They even have somewhat sexual remarks at times that aren't for the kids at all....but you know were slid in there to make the adults giggle inappropriately.

I also think the voice casts are chosen for the adults in the audience because a 6 year old doesn't care if John Leguizamo or Dennis Leary is voicing a cartoon character. They could get lesser known voice actors much cheaper, but they want the adults watching to be impressed that celebrities are in the movie.

You will never hear a small child say that they want to see Ice Age because of Ray Romano.

^ Absolutely. Good point. I remember Eddie Murphy as the donkey in Shrek. I recognized his voice already, but now whenever I hear Murphy, I automatically think of the donkey. I don't know if that benefits the actor or the movie more, though, ha.
