There's no doubt that 3D films are the "big thing" in Hollywood right now. Basically every big blockbuster film is being shot or edited into 3D these days. Disney is even rereleasing a lot of their older films in 3D!

I'm not ashamed to admit I went out to see The Lion King when it came out in 3D. I ended up being a little disappointed there, as there were only one or two parts where the 3D really seemed to add anything to the experience.

On the other hand, I recently saw Brave in 3D and it completely blew me away. It was worth the higher price and I told everyone I knew to see it in 3D, which was a first for me.

It seems that as time passes and Hollywood becomes more comfortable with this technology, 3D is actively becoming better. After seeing The Hobbit trailer in 3D, I know that's how I'll be watching it when it comes out this year.

My opinion has done a complete turn-around over the past year, from thinking it was a waste of money to really seeing how it can improve a film. What do you guys think? Is it still a big waste of money or is it coming along nicely?

For the most part, 3D is a waste of time to me. I remember when I was a child and the occasional movie would come out in 3D and that was exciting, but now, it's no big deal. It could be that everything is in it, but I think there are only certain types of movies that really benefit from 3D.

I have a 3D telly but dont use it that much, I keep forgetting to charge the glasses. Once glasses free 3D becomes the norm I would use it a lot more.

I think the real touch that any movie gets after this 3D thing, is really awesome!

I do think that more movies should use this technique to get most of the technology currently existing in today's fast world!

Hello,

I don't know, I haven't seen any movie in 3D where it add anything good. For some movies deserving 3D, how many will just be a tantrum of the director who wanted his 3D movie, when it was not necessary at all, and this will ruin the cinema industry a little bit more. I don't really like that race to always more, always better, always bigger, when we are not able anymore able to enjoy little, simple things.

And going to the cinema is already so expensive, so pay even more...
